Public testimony is scheduled for April 29th & 30th. May 1st & 3rd will be lawyers doing their thing. This will be the most important event to date. This is when the attorneys get more involved and thus the expenses will increase substantially. We have hired a strong legal team and we are now in fundraising mode. Spanaway Concerned Citizens has been advised that to fight this through to the end it could cost tens of thousands of dollars. The amount of money we raise determines how hard we can fight.
A small group of local citizens have been fighting to stop this village for over a year. This group has spent countless hours researching, attending meetings and donating to this cause.
We are now at a crucial point and NEED FINANCIAL SUPPORT! Please donate through this website: https://spanawayconcernedcitizens.com/

Citizens stepped up, even with only 2 days notice, and submitted their comments on the MDNS to our Land Use Advisory Commission aka LUAC. RE: MDNS COMMENTS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN SUBMITTED
The County has issued a Mitigated Determination of Non-significance, aka MDNS, for the Village. This means that, despite the public’s overwhelming concerns about the impact this giant project in this critical area will have on the environment, wetlands, water table, Spanaway Lake, traffic on Spanaway Loop Road, etc., the County is NOT planning on doing an Environmental Impact Statement, EIS. We, along with many others, including the eight members of the LUAC, believe that this is very wrong. It is important that we send information about why we believe a MDNS is insufficient and why and EIS is needed. Please see below for the information you need in order to make comments:
1. Comments must be sent to: rob.jenkins@piercecountywa.gov
Put: Permit # 1013477 Village MDNS at the top of your email. I would also suggest asking for an email back, letting you know that he got your comments.
2. Comments should be related to the MDNS or the SEPA Checklist which I will attach to this email. Please take a minute to look through these so you can comment more meaningfully.
3. If you have previously sent comments related to the environment, traffic, trees, endangered species, wetlands, or anything else related to the SEPA Checklist or MDNS, you must submit them again via Rob Jenkins’ email and indicate they are for the Permit # 1013477 Village MDNS. You can copy/paste your comments or forward an email you previously sent. Just be sure to indicate that its for the MDNS.
Unfortunately, the County did not put the MDNS on the PDD permitting page where everyone has been commenting and checking and therefore many concerned citizens have struggled to get the information. The County also did not put a “Comment button” for the MDNS, so that has further complicated things. Add to that that the have done this over the Thanksgiving holidays and it has made things challenging. Please don’t let this stand in your way of being active and having your voice heard. Comments about the MDNS/SEPA Checklist must be turned in by the end of business day November 30.
